If you're planning to rent, especially through online platforms or social media, it's important to make sure the listing is real and the person you're speaking to has the right to rent the property. Here's what you should ask:
📄 Proof of Address
Ask the owner for a recent utility bill (e.g. electricity, gas, or broadband) with their name and the property's address on it.
📷 Photo or Video Proof of the Property
Request a video call to view the accommodation live, or ask for photos that include the current date written on paper somewhere in the room. This helps confirm the property exists and is currently available.

Ask: “Is a deposit required? If so, how much, and when is it due?”
